First Name and Last Name don’t sync?

The description and url are working. But, maybe I don’t understand how the First name and Last name work. I have them mapped in the admin. However, when I update the First name and/or Last name in the front-end of BuddyPress, WordPress fields remain unchanged.

If I update the Display name in the front-end of Buddypress, it updates the WordPress Display name, then splits it into the First name and Last name in WordPress.

For example, if I enter “Lucy the Dog” into display name in Buddypress, it updates display name correctly, then puts “Lucy” into First name and “the Dog” into Last Name, regardless of what I have entered into First name and Last name in the front-end of Buddypress.

Is it supposed to do this? Thank you for your help. I very much appreciate your plugin.
