Registration E-email

Hi

I am trying to test TML plugin and i just created a very basic form to user registration . I do not receive the registration conformation email , once I entered the required data and submitted.

Could you please give me some idea , what should I have to check ? I have internet access . Does it required sendmail or such a mail client to be configured ?
